A. Prof. Dr. Yi Zhang, master's supervisor atHohai University, China. He successively obtained B.E. with first class honour (2013) and Ph.D. (2017) in Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, which is a Top 50 QS ranking university in the world. During his Ph.D. program, he studied under the supervision of Prof. Gavin Conibeer (one of the top 2% applied physics scientists in the world at Stanford University) and was granted by a full scholarship from the Australian government (IPRS) and funding from the German Academic Exchange Center (DAAD). He also co-trained at the Max Planck Institute of Optics, Germany and 8GeV Super Photon Ring Laboratory (SPRing-8), Japan. After graduation, he shortly worked as a research associate at UNSW and later joined the Renewable Energy Department (which is College of Renewable Energy now) in the College of Energy and Electrical Engineering at Hohai University, China, where he has been teaching and researching since 2017. At present, he has published more than 20 English academic papers, including more than 10 SCI journal papers with first or corresponding authors, applied 7 invention patents with 2 authorized; compile one textbook titled 'Principles and Applications of Solar Power Generation', presided over 1 youth project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 open funding of the State Key Laboratory of Solid Microstructure Physics, 2 fundamental research fundings of central universities of China, and 1 open funding of the State Key Laboratory of Photovoltaic Science and Technology of Jiangsu Province; participated in 2 general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 fund for equipment pre-research of the Central Military Commission, 1 special project for the "Hong Kong Macao Taiwan Science and Technology Cooperation" of the Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Plan, and several other science and technology latitudinal projects with a cumulative funding amount of over 2 million RMB. Served as a reviewer for SCI academic journals including Progress in Photovoltaics, Applied Physics Letters, Journal of Applied Physics, Solar Energy Materials, and Solar Cells, a special editor for Crystal SCI journals, a member of the Chinese Renewable Energy Society, Jiangsu Provincial Physical Society, and Jiangsu Association for the Promotion of Foreign Science and Technology. His main research interests include 1) research on the energy conversion mechanism and device preparation of ultra efficient thin film photovoltaic cells, 2) research and development of efficient quantum dot laser devices, and 3) research on nonlinear optics.
